Hours: Dawn to Dusk
Trailer Parking: Yes. However with the excessive rain you cannot get to the parking and will be directed to park in either the pickle ball court parking lot or the pool parking lot. Make sure you set your GPS to Vail Lake RV Resort or you may be lead to an old entrance.
Horse-Friendly: Sort of. They do have horse trails marked with purple or yellow horse shoes however the trails are not marked well and we couldn't find the 10 miles of equestrian trails they said they had.
What to Expect: You will encounter RVs, golf carts, and people in the campground areas. On the small trail we found it to be rough brush and you could use chaps out here.
Terrain & difficulty: The service road we took to see the actual lake was tough on the horses feet. The campground was busy with people. The trail with the purple horse shoes were tough rocky mountain trails.
Overall Thoughts: The lake was pretty but this place does not seem to have their stuff together. Most of the workers couldn't tell us where the equestrian trails were and the manager we spoke to made it sound like a well marked trail which it was not.
